Gavin has turned 4 & 4 has nothing on terrible 2's. His birthday party was a blast! All of his friends made it to his Ben 10 Birthday. Gavin is now staying at home 3 days with Dad & school the other 2 days. Daddy had taught Gavin so much. Adding and they are working on penmenship. Gavin loves to learn and more then anything enjoys every moment with us. Gav got a new puppy his name is Bubba.

I can't believe that over a year has gone by. Gavin is doing amazing and getting so big! He starter going to a preschool/daycare and loves it! He has started sounding out letters. Ask him what letter makes an Ahhh sound. He loved that game.. He loves letters and numbers. To him they are games. He weighs in at about 45 pounds. Size 11.5 feet! Tall boy too over 42.5 inches. I will post some updated pictures. Gavin still loves to sing and play instruments. Over the summer he learnedto swim face down in the pool. He comes up with something new every day. Loving every moment!

Wow so much has happened since my last blog. Not so much as in mile stones but just fun. Gavin has become excellent at his alphabet. He can recognize letters anywhere. When he isn't being stubborn he can read his name, mom, dad and Diego. He amazes Kenney and me every day. Recently he started counting to 10. Gavin was doing gymnatics for a couple months not sure when we will start up again. He did All Comers Track Meet and he has become an avid swimmer. He loves to jump from the sides of the pool and go under water. He has just started back floating too. He does all this only using his water wings. Kenney has been playing guitar with him. Gavin knows how to hold a guitar and even some of the basic parts and respect for it. He is very particular about the color of picks he uses. Almost always asks for a green, he does like to keep Dad on his toes and will ask for a red one on occasion. His favorite songs right now are; "Some where over the Rainbow", Mr. Bojangles and Dwight Yokum songs. He is so much fun. His newest obsession is Blue Man Group. Kenney has been watching a lot of Blue Man. We went to Las Vegas in July and Nana took us to see Blue Man. It amazed me that a 2 year old could sit through a live performance but I now understand why. He thinks they are simply amazing. He loves to watch the DVD totally drums along with them and always brings his air guitar out. Here are a few pictures over the past few months. So, that was a lot but it has been a few months so I figured I would throw it all in.

Hawaii

Thank you sooooo much Nana & Papa for taking us to Hawaii. Nana, Papa, Jacob, Travis, Becky, Zayne, Mason, Great-Grandpa, Great-Grandma, Gavin, Kenney and I all went to Hawaii. Becky's Aunt and Uncle also met up with us as well. We had so much fun. We did a lot of things including; snorkeling, Luau, Beach time, Travis and Becky's Vow Renewal, outrigger canoe, surfing and lots of great restaurants. It really was so amazing. We stayed at the Outrigger on Waikiki. The staff was so amazing. The housekeeper made it a point to always welcome our day and close out our night. She remember the kids names and left nice notes. I would really suggest staying there. Jimmy Buffet's restaurant was soooooo amazing. We only went the last night had we known we probably would have gone every night. Breakfast was a buffet that was included in our package and was facing the amazing Pacific Ocean every morning. I can't even begin to say how difficult it was to come home.

Hanama Bay this is where we went snorkeling. Kenney, Nana and I saw a turtle. He was really cool and looked really hungry. Nana and I were paying too much attention to the turtle and missed the baby hammerhead shark that was just over the other side of the reed. Kenney thought it was pretty amazing.

Easter 2009. We had a big day. We went to Seattle then up to Bellingham. Gavin had a great time. His nanny (Kenney's mom) had a big Easter Egg Hunt. Gavin was the youngest and took home a $10 egg. All on his own. His cousin brought him a frog. Gavin thought it would be cool to jump behind him and follow him. Then Aunit Cher thought it would be perfect to put the frog in an egg and give it to Daddy. It was pretty funny.

I totally messed up while cutting Gavin's hair. I took the guard off the clippers to trim up his ears and neck and well like every 2 year old he moved around and up the head the clippers went. I tried to save what I could, but Daddy thought it would look better if I just shaved it off. So here is Gav's new cut.. Poor guy.. Sure makes his head look bigger.

Gavin had a great time on his birthday. It was full of all kinds of excitement. He had many of his friends came over to share the great time with him. Gavin has accomplished many things recently. He knows most if not all of the letters of the alphabet. He can point out many of them in books. Gavin also associates the letters with animals or other objects. Kenney has also helped Gavin recognize President Obama and President George Washington. It is amazing to see how much he has accomplished. He had his 2 year check and the doc said he is above average for height and in the 95% for weight.. She was really impressed with how well he was conversating with her and he knew the jungle animals on the wall. This is the first time he has been ok with letting the doctor look in his ears and mouth. He sure is getting a personality too.

Children's Museum and update.

The last couple visits to the Children's Museum. We went to the one in Everett also that one happens to be amazing. Yesterday we met Ethan, Katy and Bekah. Gavin and Ethan are pretty funny they each like very different things but really enjoyed the fish exhibit together. We had a lot of fun yesterday. Gavin loves the sand box and the music room. He could spend an hour each very. We also talked about the truck and that daddy used to drive a big truck.. He is talking so much and repeats just about everything. He really likes to say "O' Jeez", he can pretty much count to 4 if he is really paying attention. We haven't really started to work on potty training but when he asks to go then I take him. /Gavin's second birthday is coming up and we are planning a Bob The Builder party.

Christmas with everyone on my mom's side was cancelled due to the snow. We finally celebrated on the 4th. Hard to believe. We had a great day. Gavin won't leave his new learning block thing alone. Between that and the guitar he has had a blast.

Finally an update.... Snow

Gavin LOVES the snow. He had so much fun playing in it. We bought him a snow suit and it fit him perfect. He really liked sledding. We were snowed in at Nana and Papas house for a week while our house suffered through frozen pipes and a broken heater. Kenney actually got snowed in for a couple days. We had a really bad snow drift because of all the wind and it got waist high in parts of our yard.

Gavin's Surgery

Thank you to all of you who thought about Gavin today. His surgery went very well. He was even up running around sooner then we anticipated. He has a little stiffness in his legs but that is pretty expected since they gave him an injection in his lower spine. Kind of like an epidural but it is called something else. Then he was under full anesthesia. We opted not to have him sedated on his way to get the gas. That was when I broke down. He was crying so hard when the anesthesiologist took him away. I felt like the worst mom in the world.

I had to stop and get a latte the other morning. Gavin knew and said, "nummy nums". I knew it wouldn't stop until I got him something. So, the barista put a little milk inside of a cip and a straw that way I at least knew he couldn't dump a whole cup on him. He was so excited so I had to stop and take his picture. I kept asking him how he liked his coffee. He kept saying, "coffee mommy".

Just a little up date on Gav-man... He is growing and talking more every day. He repeats just about everything we say. He also enjoys singing the ABC's. We enjoy every momemt of his learning experiences. Gavin had some eye hives. The dermotologist said that they should go away. Sure enough they have gone and stayed away for a couple weeks now. YEAH!!! 1 down.. Next week we go to Children's Hospital. Gavin is still missing a tesitcle and hopefully next week the doctors will find it and and they can do surgery to correct it.

Gavin is the builder

So, Gavin has chosen his profession. He is determined to be a builder. Bob the Builder. He sees the Bob the Builder logo and will say Bob usually he will continue to repeat it over and over. Too funny. Since he enjoys hammers and stuff we decided to get him his own work bench. He totally loves his electric drill and drill bits and knows what to do with his wrench, screw drivers, drill and screws. We went to his pals birthday and he saw a hammer with Bob on it and wouldn't let go of it.. Here are pictures of his work bench.

These are all very random pictures over the last month. Enjoy! A little update on Gavin. He is growing and growing. Everyday is something new. He is talking so much more and enjoys exploring. He has started working on the ABCs and 123s. Loves his pals at daycare. He was so excited to see Lily and Kaleb when they finally came back from vacation. They are breakfast buddies. His favorite thing to do right now is playing in the sandbox that Papa built for the boys. We have been in a battle with the red bumps by his eyes. So, far we are at 5-1 with doctors. 5 doctors including a dermatologist say that it is just an irritation and will probably be gone in about 6-8 months. 1 doctor thought it was something more serious hence getting another opinion. So, we are not 100% sure what it is. The good part is, it doesn't seem to bother him.

Gavin got his first real hair cut. Mom attempted once but that didn't go so well. This time Gavin thought the clippers were way cool. When the clippers got close to his ear or neck he giggled. He sat totally still and just put his head on my chest. Such a good boy. He has been teething like crazy. Seriously I think he been visited by the tooth ferry like 6 times in the last week or so. Poor guy. I have posted a picture of my dad when he was little. Hard to believe the resemblance.

We had a blast playing over the weekend. Gavin, Nana, Jacob and I took full advantage of the brief moments of sun and took Gavin up to the park near Nana & Papa's house. We had so much fun! Gavin thought the slide was the BEST! later that night Zayne, Becky and Trav stopped by to see the new carpet and paint. Gavin and Zayne played so good and had so much fun together. Look at how cute they were sharing the wagon. Then Zayne thought he would be a good cousin and push Gavin around. It was too cute!

We had a busy weekend. We went to Auntie Cher's birthday. Nanny took us out to a yummy dinner. Then we had her SUPER yummy cake. Words can not describe her Chocolate frosting. Gavin's cousins just got back from Disneyland and gave Gavin a cool pirate shirt, pirate hat, rubber duck and sippy cup from Sea World. I have also posted a picture of our new carpet.. YEAH!

A weekend apart...

Last weekend we had about 3 inches of snow in the morning. It has never worked out well for Gavin to get a chance to play it in. So, we buddled up in the morning and went outside. We made a snow man and snow angels. We had a blast. This weekend we went to Holland Happenings in Oak Harbor. There was a cool parade and street fair. Gavin's cousin Zayne, Auntie Becky, Uncle Travis and Jacob, Nana and Great Grandma all went with us and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

These last few months to say the least have had their ups and downs. Becoming a parent comes with lots of worrying and nail biting. Gavin appears to get hives when he catches those lovely viruses. He has now had more then a few break outs. They do not seem to bother him much, maybe a little itchy. The other problem is when he gets upset or stresses his body (teething) he gets them and they are pretty big and blotchy. We had a few weeks of doctor appointment to urgent care then back to the doctor. Several rounds. Well we finally thought we crossed the bridge of illness for the season. Wrong! I woke up this morning to hives. Poor kido. He has a runny nose and I am pretty sure he is about to get some of those stubborn teeth. Around 11:45 I was getting some lunch for Gavin and Zayne we were at Nana and Papa's house. As I was in the pantry Gavin comes running up. He tripped and flew in to a roaster that was under the shelf. He hit just above his left eye on the lip of the pan. It wasn't sharp just a hard hit. It split his head open. Blood was everywhere. To date I think this was the scariest moment of my life. I have never felt so powerless. Blood was literally all over running in to his eyes, hair and neck. Nana and eye jumped in the car and rushed to the Emergency Room. I could tell this was a deep cut. You could actually see down a couple of layers of flesh. By the top we got to the hospital Gavin had calmed down and the bleeding had stopped a little. So, in speaking with the doctor we decided to do steri-strips and glue versus stiches. We decided it would be less tramtic with the same results if Gavin could not pick his bandage off. On top of all of this his hives became the size of a nickel. The doctor said Benedryl or IBprofin. Alrighty time to go home. Everytime Gavin fell or bumped in to something my stomach dropped. He is just one of those kids who loves to live life on the edge and loves to push his luck. We are so in for it.

There have been other things to come up and we have just dealt. My family is healthy and happy and that means the most.
Any how just an update and a way for me to vent.

Gavin's 1st Birthday Party & day of

Gavin's birthday was a blast. We had such a great time. Thank you everyone for all of the fun toys, cute clothes and lots of love. I know Gavin really enjoyed having all of you there. Even though he was kinda grumpy gotta love those teeth coming in. For Gavin's actual birthday. We just hung out at home. Gavin had it immunizations so he wasn't feeling much up to getting down. Doctor said he is doing GREAT! I was kind of concerned that he had an ear ache but Doc. said he is good. Gavin is forward facing in his car seat and drinking a mixture of whole milk and soy milk. He spits plain whole milk out so we have to slowly work it in. He weighed in at 24.10 pounds, 30 1/4 inches tall. He is in the 75th percentile for everything. This has been a very busy week. I have started a new position still with Whidbey Island Bank as a Credit Assistant for a Commercial Lending Team. Very big job and very exciting! I was very thankful as my layoff date was rapidly approaching. We love you all!

Back to the doctors...

We went back to the doctors on Friday night at 7:30pm. Luckily they were able to get us in. Gavin started running a fever and throwing up. So, now not only do we have these hives all over his body (getting worse) he is running a fever and throwing up. His doctor thinks it may be more viral then allergy. He didn't rule out allergy but we are assuming it was a virus. Saturday was the worst. I ended up getting the flu in a bad way. I couldn't imagine that an adult could get that sick, but I did. TERRIBLE. Not only the sick part but tweeking my back too. Since Kenney was at work and I really couldn't take care of Gavin, my mom came and got him. He spent the night with them. Sunday night neither of us were back to 100%. I was very tired and my tummy was still touchy. Now, today we are both feeling better. Once again not 100%but much better. Gavin is very clingy and still doesn't have it appetite and he is very lazy/tired. So, we have just hung out today relaxing and trying to get better. Fingers crossed tomorrow will be like a whole new day.

Gavin's first hives...

This has been a very stressful week. Last Thursday Gavin developed Bronchiolitis(?). Thank you Auntie Cheryl for thinking it was more then just a cold. Love having a nurse in the family. The doctor said this could develop or be from RSV. Of course when I heard RSV my mind started spinning. Most kids are admitted to the hospital. The doctor said if he didn't keep fluids down (he was throwing up) and if the chest noise didn't clear up then he would have to be admitted. They put him on albutirol treatments. So, the next day we went to the doctor again it was still the same. By Saturday it was a little better. He was keeping the pedialyte down and seemed to be the typical happy boy he usually is. Yeah, we were in the clear. Oh yeah, he also had an ear infection. Ok, so as the week went on I thought things are going great, until today. He stayed and Nana & Papa's. I had to be in Friday Harbor early. So, I got a call from Nana, Gavin started throwing up. Then by the time I got to Friday Harbor he started developing hives. I was a mess at this point. The next ferry out was 12:40. So, I caught the ferry and when I saw Gavin I almost cried. The hives looked terrible. At 12:30 Nana had taken him to the doctor and they said he is allergic to Amoxicillan (pretty sure). Since his ear infection was gone they decided he didn't need it anymore anyways. So, I thought I would share some pictures of his hives. These pictures really don't show just how red they are. This is also after Benedryl. These pictures are of a couple spots but he pretty much looks like a spotted kid.

If Gavin were a knight he would be Sir Eats A Lot! He is becoming such a big boy. Loves to eat by himself. If we feed him we have to put something in front of him so he can eat too. He is walking more and more each day. Still my little Bambi. Gavin has also become our little explorer. He loves to get in to everything and anything. Climbs on toys to reach things he can't have, crawls under stuff to get to another location. He seems to find something interesting in everything. He LOVES books. Put a book in front of him and he will read it for 1/2 hour. Really quick funny little story.
At Weight Watchers they announce losses and every cheers. Well Gavin really got in to and start cheering the loudest. He went crazy. Then our speaker had to pick him up and show him to everyone. He thought he was the coolest cat, he had all the attention.

Gavin is getting so good at standing. He really wants to walk. Just can't coordinate that belly to hang with him and not go flying forward. Soon. I hope by Christmas he will be walking. Gavin is developing an interesting personality. Loves to get mommy and daddy. On Sunday night Gavin stood by himself for about 15 seconds. Closer and closer to walking. It seemed like forever. Yesterday Daddy has taught Gavin to just say Da-da not a rolling da,da,da,da. This is copying Daddy and just saying it twice. What a big boy he is becoming.. He also likes his tongue a lot. He sticks it out. It seems like when he is thinking he has it out just a little bit, biting on it.. IT is pretty cute...

Gavin has ditched the Army crawl. He is full on crawling and there is no stopping him. Well maybe a couple road blocks that mommy and daddy put up. He is having a blast crawling. Video to follow when I have time to post it. Love you!

Viva Las Vegas

Gavin is a great flyer. Going there we had an extra seat so it made it nice to put him in a car seat next to me. But on the way home it was booked he was so cool though just sat on my lap and then slept the last 2 hours in Nana's arms. Vegas was great. Gavin seemed to really enjoy all of the stimulation. He likes to cough when some one else coughs it is pretty funny. (Thank you Nana). He looked pretty funny when he fell asleep in his stroller. People commented on what a big boy he was... Gavin met his first famous person. Yes, that is Pete Rose.

Gotta love those carrots. First he did not really care for them, actually it was like eating a lemon. But now he LOVES them. Altough I am sure at this point as long as it is food Gavin is all about it.

The Army Crawl

My mom says Gavin is crawling. It is half and half. He is doing what many would consider the "army crawl"..He uses one arm pulling forward and scooches then uses his other arm. He almost has his legs straight. I will get a video soon and post.. It is too cute. I can't believe how quickly he gets around now. He is a little guy who is on a mission.

Gavin is getting so close to crawling.. Maybe another week. He loves his daycare. He has been doing great adjusting. He comes home happy and gets excited when we get there in the morning. Worth the extra drive. It turns out that Kenney's family is linked to them and her brother in-law is a realtor who I have worked with. Small World! We are very happy with her. He loves her girls so much. He is also a HUGE fan of the Johnny Jump-Up. When he starts getting tired we put him in the Johnny Jump-up to burn the excess energy off and then he goes to bed and crashes. Not one peep about going to sleep. Although he doesn't complain about much. We are down to only waking up 1 time in the night. Yeah!!!!!

Gavin is 4 months old now. He just had his check up and shots. Baby Bear is getting so big. He weighs 19.5 pounds. 26 3/4 inches.. For his weight he is off the colored graph. So, he is considered over 100 percentile. CRAZY boy!!!! He wants to be able to hold his own bottle. He really tries hard to. But kinda gets excited and lets go.

I got Gavin an old school walker. He totally loves it, he loves being a big boy. He actually pushes himself backwards in it. I swear he thinks the bears are the funniest thing ever.

Swimming at Nana and Papa's Pool

Gavin loves swimming. We had such a great time in the pool. He was so tuckered out he slept maybe 2 hours and still remained happy all day. I had to wake him up so he didn't get up for the day at 2-3 am. He was more then happy to do so, we played a couple more hours then at 9:30m he went to sleep for the night. When we got home he laid in the crub but only for about 1 hour. After that he got up for 2 seconds and then crashed until 5:30am WOW!!!

One small roll for baby, one giant roll for mom. Gavin rolled from front to back today. Papa, Uncle Jacob and I were able to witness such a great event for Gavin. I did get it on tape for Dad just incase he wouldn't do it again. But the minute I laid him on his belly in front of Dad he went right ahead showed him to. Every time I turned the camera on he was already on his side so I will have to get a better one where it shows him already on his belly. Now he knows he doesn't have to stay on the tummy he just rolls right over.

Well, I have changed jobs, and since I was and I am going in to a sales position I did not get 2 weeks. DARN.. I was prepared either way. So, right now I thought I would take the 2 weeks, spend some time with Gavin, get organized and ready for Whidbey Island Bank where I will be a loan officer in Anacortes. If you need a home loan give me a call. Over the last couple days I went to my parents house and took full advantage of the weather and swam. On Tuesday Bekah, Katie, Ethan and Cody came over. The boys had a lot of fun together. They were so darn cute.

Gavin is gowing more and more each day. The out-fit that is blue and red is 3-6 months I tried it just to see how it looked and realized that is pretty much too small. The blue plaid is 6-12 months. Can you believe he is wearing 5-12 months. The pants I had him in today were carters 12 months. O'my gosh.

We are trying to get Gavin to sleep in his crib. I have been working at it. I have been working on naps on weekends. Once that gets a little more perfected I will work on night times. This is Gavin on saturday. He slept in there for about 1/2 hour.

Gavin had his first set of shots. He seemed to handle it ok. He has had just little bit of an upset tummy and little bit of fussiness. Gavin weighs 14.5 pounds, yup big boy..Yesterday we visited Kenney's long time friend Jess, his wife and kids. Their daughter is a day or so younger then Gavin.. Most of the babies born around Gavin are about 10.5-11 pounds. Gavin is a tank.

This week Gavin went to his new sitter (Tiffany) and then daddy stayed with him Tuesday and Wednesday. Today he will be hanging out with Nana and then back to Tiffany's tomorrow. Gavin really likes Tiffany and her girls. He must of had a lot of fun because when we got home he just about slept through the night...

Uncle Jacob rocked Gavin to sleep.
After working I got to hold my baby...Oh how I love him.

Gavin is getting really good at reaching for his toys while he is in his chair. He really likes the pig rattle.
Gavin's cousin Zayne got a 4-wheeler. Papa, Zayne and Uncle Jacob put it together while I came home for my lunch break.

I went back to work this week, so Gavin spent it with Papa. Next week he will be with Tiffany, Rebekah and Nana.

Gavin sure loves spending time with Daddy. This picture is last night, but my story is from tonight. Gavin cried like I have never heard him cry before. The only thing I could do was stand and walk with him. So, I decided to get a bath ready for him incase he just had some gas. I figured the hot water would help him. Kenney wanted to hold him while I got the bath ready. As soon as he got in to dad's arms he quit crying..He was just hanging, daddy bounced him a little. After I stuck him in the bath he was back to his normal self. Darn mommy for eating something bad for his belly.
